Spicy Italian Crescent Ring

Elevate your meal with the Spicy Italian Crescent Ring, where rich Italian flavors come together in a flaky, golden-baked crescent dough, creating a truly delicious dining experience.

Ingredients:

2 cans (8 oz each) of Pillsbury™ refrigerated crescent dinner rolls

1/2 cup of well-drained roasted red bell peppers (from a jar)

8 slices of provolone cheese, cut in half

1/3 lb of deli-sliced hot salami

1/4 lb of deli-sliced ham

1/4 lb of deli-sliced capocollo

1/2 cup of well-drained hot pepper rings (from a jar)

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F.

Step 2: Unroll both cans of crescent dough and separate into 8 rectangles. Arrange these rectangles on an ungreased 12-inch pizza pan, forming a ring with the short sides of the rectangles creating a circle in the center. The dough will overlap, with half of each rectangle hanging over the edge, resembling a sun.

Step 3: Spread the roasted red bell peppers toward the center of the dough ring on the bottom halves of the rectangles. Layer half of the provolone cheese on top, followed by the salami, ham, and capocollo slices. Add the pepper rings and then cover with the remaining cheese.

Step 4: Fold the dough rectangles hanging over the side up and over the filling, tucking the dough underneath the bottom layer to secure it. Continue around the entire ring until all the filling is enclosed (a little bit of filling might peek through, but that’s fine). Sprinkle the top with black pepper.

Step 5: Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Tip: For well-drained roasted red bell peppers, use a fine mesh strainer and place the peppers on paper towels to soak up any excess moisture.

For a milder version, feel free to swap out the deli meats for a less spicy variety, and replace the hot pepper rings with ripe olives.
