In my opinion, there’s no such thing as a “quick fry” or minute steak that turns out well when cooked fast.

There are countless recipes online that suggest cooking these steaks in a frying pan for 10-15 minutes, but in my experience, they all result in something akin to shoe leather. That method just doesn’t work.

If you’re lucky enough to have a skilled local butcher who can cut and tenderize real minute steaks, then you’ve struck gold.

But if you’re buying your steaks from the grocery store, treat them like cubed steaks.

These thin, tenderized steaks have never come out tender for me with quick frying, but slow cooking is the key to success!

Ingredients:

6 cube steaks

1 medium onion, peeled and sliced into rings

1 can of cream of chicken soup

1 can of cream of celery soup

1 packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix

1/2 can of water (using the soup can)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Step 1: Begin by peeling the onion and slicing it into rings.

Step 2: Season each cube steak with salt and pepper.

Step 3: In your crock-pot, layer two cube steaks at the bottom.

Step 4: Add a layer of onion rings on top, then repeat the process, alternating between cube steaks and onions. This layering helps keep the steaks from sticking together during cooking.

Step 5: In a separate bowl, combine the cream soups with the water, stirring until smooth. Pour this mixture over the layered meat and onions.

Step 6: Sprinkle the Lipton Onion Soup Mix evenly over the top.

Step 7: Cover the crock-pot and set it to low. Let it cook for 6-7 hours, during which your kitchen will be filled with a mouthwatering aroma.

Step 8: Serve the cube steaks with mashed potatoes to soak up the gravy, along with a side salad or green vegetables.

Note: If you prefer cream of mushroom soup, feel free to substitute it. However, I personally prefer this combination over mushroom soup.
